Liverpool was in the festive spirit yesterday (6th December) as I, along with a few thousand others, dressed up as Santa Claus and took to the streets of Liverpool for a 5km fun run.

Up early in the morning and staggering towards the front door, as the first light of the day was cast over Liverpool, getting excited about the event as I got dressed and put on my Santa suit. What an ominous feeling it is to walk towards the city centre and see Santa’s multiplying the closer I got to the starting line.

What felt like a bitterly cold morning did not stop the festive spirit from touching all those running and supporting. It was a delight to see not just runners supporting a good cause, but dogs in their Santa gear and families running in teams.

Waiting at the starting line behind a few thousand other Santa’s, everyone was waddling towards the line like penguins, anxious to get started. Running round the streets of Liverpool amidst thousands of other Santa’s was surreal to say the least, but an amazing sight at the top of the over-pass. The event was nothing short of inspiring, and a great way to bring Christmas alive as we count down the final days before we all get to open the presents from under the tree. I for one intend to be at the next Santa Dash and highly recommend taking part next year, whether you are a skilled runner or just want to raise money for charity, it’s definitely not to be missed.
